After clicking on "Add Control" in the Process Designer, you should be able to see an orange rectangle surrounding the elements of your web/desktop app. The same applies to the JAVA based applications.

In case you hover over your JAVA app's elements and you are not able to see the orange rectangle, then follow the steps below:

for ProcessRobot users

  1. Close Process Studio
  2. Open "C:\Program Files\ProcessRobot\Clients\ProcessRobot.Plugin.Java.dll.config" with an editor
  3. Replace value="First" with value="Smallest"
  4. Save and close the file

for WinAutomation users

  1. Close WinAutomation Console
  2. Open "C:\Program Files\WinAutomation\WinAutomation.Plugin.Java.dll.config" with an editor
  3. Replace value="First" with value="Smallest"
  4. Save and close the file

Try to capture the control of the JAVA element. Now, you should be able to see the orange rectangle.

Note: After a software upgrade, the above setting will be reset to its default state. So, you would need to modify it again.
