In case you are using an Amazon SQL server (Amazon-RDS) which implements a relational database system, as a ProcessRobot database, below are a few tips that that will make the system more versatile:

  • Always choose a multi-AZ Deployment for high availability purposes
  • At least General Purpose SSD (Provisioned IOPS is better and can migrate to that after monitoring the environment for a few days/weeks to figure out what exactly is needed)
  • Standard or Enterprise Editions (Enterprise is more feature-rich) 
  • Start with a db.m5.large (db.m5.xlarge recommended) and scale up after monitoring the infrastructure for a few days under full load, if there is a need (size of instance heavily depends on how many concurrent processes are running and their function.)
